Your Easter weekend binge session just got a new addition.

The Easter weekend means many of us will have a full four days away from work to relax and reset. And if you plan to spend that time catching up on all the films and TV shows you’ve not seen yet, then you’re in luck – as there’s a new highly rated crime thriller film on Amazon Prime Video that’s got everybody talking.

Streaming services have made it easier than ever to find our favourite films to keep us entertained. Most people love to talk about Netflix as a source of high-quality entertainment, but there’s plenty to love about Prime Video too. Not least because it’s included for free if you already pay for Amazon’s Prime delivery service.

One film and TV reviewer on social media has heaped praise on a new addition to Prime Video, claiming the crime thriller has “everything you want from a film” and urging everyone to watch it.

Luke Eccleston, who operates online as Eccy Reviews, said those looking for a new film to watch this weekend should check out Crime 101.

It’s a gripping thriller that came out in February and features a star-studded cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, and Halle Berry.

Luke said: “If you’re looking for something to watch, there is no need to keep scrolling because I have found the perfect film for you. The film you need to go and see is called Crime 101.

“It just dropped this year, it’s a brand new film, and it’s just been added to Amazon Prime. This is one of the easiest watches you’re going to have all year. If you’re a fan of action or crime thrillers, this is the perfect film for you.

“This [film] stars Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Barry Keoghan, and Mark Ruffalo, and trust me, everyone in this film is absolutely brilliant. It has great action sequences, a really great and intense story with a lot of comedy and romance, and it has everything you want from a film like this.”

Crime 101 is directed by Bart Layton and is based on the 2020 novella by Don Winslow. It tells the story of Mike Davis (Chris Hemsworth), an elusive and disciplined jewel thief, who carefully plans robberies in Los Angeles to avoid leaving DNA evidence while escaping via US Route 101.

Mark Ruffalo stars as Detective Lou Lubesnick, a detective who is trying to track down Mike and stop his string of crimes, while Barry Keoghan plays a violent young biker named Ormon who gets caught up in the action when Mike’s unpredictable fence, Money (Nick Nolte), hires him to help with a planned robbery in Santa Barbara.

Halle Berry plays Sharon, an insurance broker who teams up with Mike, and Monica Barbaro plays Mike’s love interest in the film, a woman by the name of Maya.

Crime 101 has a score of 7/10 on IMDb and 89% on the reviewing website Rotten Tomatoes, where film critics have praised its “compelling story” and “solid” acting performances.

One critic wrote: “Anchored by solid performances and a compelling story, Crime 101 hints at a film that might have soared.”

Another said: “It’s so rare to see studios bother with a well-plotted, crisply orchestrated crime picture that it feels like a gift. It’s little wonder that some of the best actors in the business have fluttered to it like moths to flame.”

Commenters on Luke’s video also said they were excited to watch the film, with some saying they had been waiting for it to come to streaming platforms since its limited cinema run earlier this year.

One person said: “Sticking it on now. I’ve been waiting for this to come out.” Another added: “The best film I’ve seen over the last [few] years!”

Meanwhile, a third simply said: “Worth a watch.”
