During the offseason, the Boston Red Sox acquired starting pitcher Sonny Gray from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for Richard Fitts, Brandon Clarke, and a player to be named later. Now, the player who the Red Sox are sending over to the Cardinals has been revealed.
The Cardinals have announced that they have acquired pitcher Patrick Galle from the Red Sox to officially complete the Sonny Gray trade.
Galle made one appearance for Single-A Salem this season before being sent to the Cardinals organization, where he allowed one run and struck out one batter in 2.0 innings pitched. He also made three appearances for Single-A Salem last season, where he had a 0-0 record, an 8.44 ERA, and three strikeouts.
Galle was selected by Boston in the 17th round of the 2025 MLB draft, where he went 508th overall. Now, after spending a brief time with the Red Sox organization, he will be working on his development with the Cardinals organization after this move.
