007 First Light developer IO Interactive has a nice surprise in store for James Bond fans, as the upcoming action-adventure game gets ready to make its debut. 007 First Light explores the early days of Bond’s journey to becoming an MI6 spy. The game officially has a May 27 release date on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, although Deluxe Edition owners can play the game a day early.
Indeed, 007 First Light early access has a 3pm BST UK release time on May 26. That’s 7am PT / 10am ET for US fans, and 4pm CET in Europe. Even better news is that unlike most early access releases, you don’t have to spend any extra cash to play the game early. Instead, all you have to do is pre-order the game and you’ll be upgraded to the Deluxe Edition for free.

The news was announced by developer IO Interactive on X, alongside confirmation of launch timings.
“007 First Light is just around the corner, and we can’t wait for you to get your hands on it,” reads an IO Interactive tweet.
“Check out the launch map to see when the game becomes playable for you during early access and release. Are you locked in and ready for this re-imagined origin story?
“Pre-order now and get a free Deluxe Edition upgrade, including 24H early access.”
If you pre-ordered 007 First Light, then the game is also available to pre-load, but only on PS5. This means you can start playing the moment early access goes live.
Unfortunately, however, pre-loading isn’t available on Xbox and Steam. Instead, fans will have to wait until the early access unlock time to play the game.
If you don’t pre-order the game, then you won’t be able to play 007 First Light until May 27.
Pre-order customers will also receive various bonus items. This includes multiple outfits, including the Gilded Tuxedo, Day of the Dead costume, Silent Anchor threads and Savanna Bloom clothing.
You’ll also receive a golden weapon skin, Silverstone gadget skin and Gleaming Pack set of item skins.
Combining stealth action from the likes of Hitman with action gameplay inspired by titles like Uncharted, 007 First Light is a globe-spanning adventure game featuring a young James Bond.
James Bond will visit locations such as Slovakia, Iceland and Vietnam in his quest to become an MI6 agent.
“Follow James Bond as a young, resourceful and sometimes reckless recruit in MI6’s training program, and discover an origin story of the world’s most famous spy,” reads the official description.
“After a heroic act, young Naval air crewman James Bond is offered to join the newly revived Double 0 program. But when a mission to stop a rogue agent ends in tragedy, he must join forces with his reluctant mentor Greenway to expose a deep conspiracy and stop a looming coup at the heart of the State.”
