Brian May slams ‘invidious’ Beatles biopics ‘I’d dread that happening to Queen’ | Films | Entertainment

Back in 2018, Sir Brian May produced the Freddie Mercury Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

Despite lacklustre reviews, the film almost grossed $1 billion worldwide and won more Oscars than any other movie that year, including Best Actor for Rami Malek.

A number of rock star biopics have followed suit to varying degrees of success, and now it’s The Beatles‘ turn.

In a recent interview, Sir Brian was asked what he thought of the same formula being used for the four members of Queen.

Speaking with the Daily Mail, the guitar legend replied: “No, I would dread it if that happened to Queen. I love the Beatles, the Beatles are like the Bible. But four films, I feel like it’s a horrible kind of thing where it’s a competition between them, that can be pretty invidious. I’m happy with the film we made about Freddie, for now, I don’t need any more than that. I feel very proud that we did it for Freddie, not for us, it made it right for us, it was the right thing for us.”
