The Phoenix Suns have certainly been defying the expectations set for them this season. Looking like a real playoff caliber bunch for most of the year, they have overcome some key injuries and shortcomings to get out to a 25-17 beginning to the season.

For one game in early November, they had Jalen Green. He came back and dropped 29 points in his first game of the season and team debut. He unfortunately got hurt the very next game, and hasn’t been back since.

His absence allowed Dillon Brooks to take on a larger role early on. It also made sure Collin Gillespie would become a featured part of the offense. Same with Grayson Allen, who has also taken on a huge role.

Of course, Devin Booker, being the alpha of the squad, has been able to do his thing. Having a scorer like Green being absent surely frees up more looks.

Phoenix finally provided an injury update on the injured guard on Sunday. Let’s get into ti.

Suns Provide Update on Jalen Green

Out since November 8th, Phoenix announced that guard Jalen Green was questionable in the latest injury report. As the team prepares for the front end of a back-to-back, it’s worth noting if he ends up missing the game, he would likely play the next day.

Green was very durable while playing for playing for the Houston Rockets. So much so, that he played in all 82 games in each of the past two campaigns. It’s rare in the modern game for anybody to go all year without a rest day, and he did it in consecutive seasons.

Injuries do happen, and it was unfortunate for Green that the new injury was to his hip. His scoring ability helped the Rockets immensely a season ago as they reached all the way to the #2 seed in the Western Conference. He will be in position to try and guide Phoenix a bit higher this season upon coming back into the lineup.

Green has the ability to create his own looks. He can also catch-and-shoot from beyond the arc. The fact that is being listed as questionable after missing nine weeks is a very big deal. A look below will show what he was able to do at his best in Houston last season.

The valley just got a little hotter with this news update.

The Suns Ceiling With Healthy Jalen Green

A healthy backcourt of Devin Booker and Jalen Green can do some great things in Phoenix. They would have two guys who can get their own bucket, and also take over the game when they’re at their best.

Green of course, did not exactly shine in his debut playoff series against the Golden State Warriors last season. He struggled in six out of the seven games. But in Game 6, he dropped a cool 38 points to help the Rockets to a victory in a series that wound up going seven.

A five-man lineup of Booker-Green-Brooks-Royce O’Neale-Mark Williams will be solid. Bringing in Grayson Allen and Collin Gillespie off the bench will allow for more firepower.

This is a team that has plenty of juice, and first-year Head Coach Jordan Ott has everybody playing hard for all 48 minutes each night.

Look for Green to make that return this week, and get himself right back into the headlines. With 40 games left, there is plenty of time for Phoenix to get that new lineup chemistry.
