It’s been over a year since the release of GTA 6 Trailer 2, and fans are still spotting tiny details and easter eggs after all this time. The most recent discovery is what appears to be a subtle nod towards a key character from GTA Vice City – and it’s a proper ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ reference.
The easter egg was first spotted by GameVerse on X. “Call me crazy, but this is the first Tommy Vercetti Easter egg I found in GTA 6 Trailer 2,” they write.
Accompanying the post is a trimmed down clip of Trailer 2 showing Jason smacking an NPC. This looks to just be a bog-standard interaction, but if you zoom into the background of the shot, die-hard fans of the series might spot a familiar shirt design.
It’s found on a graffiti drawing of a gecko, which is wearing a stylish teal-blue floral shirt. While the video is a little grainy to make out properly, it looks suspiciously like the same shirt Tommy Vercetti wore in GTA Vice City.
Tommy Vercetti was the protagonist of GTA Vice City, the last game to depict the state of Leonida in the Grand Theft Auto universe. It’s unclear if Vercetti will make a reappearance in GTA 6, but it wouldn’t surprise us if Rockstar dropped in a few easter eggs and nods to the 2002 game for good measure.
GTA games are known for their intricate easter eggs, with GTA 5 home to the likes of Bigfoot, the Mount Chiliad mystery, and plenty more.
Gamers are still finding easter eggs in Rockstar’s games today with new secrets still being found in Red Dead Redemption 2 – a nearly eight year old game.
We’ve no doubt that GTA 6 will be no different, and we don’t have long left to wait until we can finally start exploring every nook and cranny of Vice City.
Pre-orders for GTA 6 are set to go live on Thursday, June 25. It’s then that we’ll finally learn how much Rockstar is planning to charge for the game ahead of its November 19, 2026 release date.
