We’ve known for a while that GTA 6 is headed to PlayStation 5 and Xbox on November 19, 2026, with every other game under the sun skirting out of its massive shadow if they can help it.
What we still don’t know is when Rockstar plans to bring its latest rendition of Vice City to the PC platform – or if a PC port is even planned at all. However, a leak from people who claim to work at Rockstar seems to indicate that we could be getting GTA 6 on PC a lot earlier than we first thought.
That’s according to DetectiveSeeds on X, who claims to have spoken to three independent sources who work at the game studio. They claim that players can expect the PC port to land in February 2027, just three months after it launches on consoles in November.
“According to 3 former Rockstar employees (that I contacted through Linkedin) Grand Theft Auto 6 is aiming to release the PC version in February 2027. All stated this timeline could shift, but Take- Two and Rockstar wanted to get the game out before the end of fiscal year. I reached out to over 90 people, 3 answered me,” the post reads.
We weren’t able to verify any of these claims, so it’s not official confirmation that GTA 6 is coming to PC that soon. But it does give us hope that players might not be waiting as long as we usually are for new Rockstar games to make the jump to another platform.
Back when GTA 5 launched, it took Rockstar almost two years to bring the game to PC. Red Dead Redemption 2 was a slightly shorter gap at around a year – and we won’t talk about the 14 years it took the first Red Dead Redemption to make the jump.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has explained the reason why Rockstar usually releases its games on console first. ““Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you’re judged by serving the core,” he said back in May. “Like really serving the core consumer. If your core consumer isn’t there, if they’re not served first and best, you kind of don’t hit your other consumers.”
However, there is the cynical point of view that Rockstar is hoping gamers might ‘double-dip’ and purchase the game on both consoles and PC by spacing them out. As a primarily PC gamer who also owns a PS5, I know I’ll certainly be tempted.
GTA 6 is set to release on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
