A new Steam Machine leak appears to have shed light on how much the PC/console hybrid will cost when it launches later this year. As we get closer to Valve’s first half of 2026 release date deadline, Steam Machine leaks are becoming ever more frequent. Fans are desperate for more information, especially after seeing how quickly the Steam Controller sold out following a rather sudden launch.
The latest report is something of a mixed bag for future Steam Machine customers. On the one hand it looks like the release date – or an announcement, at least – is imminent, but on the other it appears as though the Steam Machine could be even more expensive than fans had hoped.

According to a new discovery, the Steam Machine could cost more than €1,000 when it’s finally made available to buy in Europe.
That’s at least £875 for UK customers, and over $1,000 for shoppers in the US.
While nothing has been officially confirmed by Valve, the price was listed as part of an alleged source code update on the website.
The other thing worth noting is that the price doesn’t specify whether it’s for the Steam Machine itself or the Steam Frame VR headset.
Fans also believe that the high price point could be referring to the 2TB Steam Machine and controller bundle, and not the standard 512GB package.
While the potential Steam Machine price tag is extremely high and likely to put some fans off, the good news is that the leak hints at an imminent release date.
If you cast your mind back to the release of the Steam Controller, there were similar leaks in the weeks before launch.
Valve previously outlined plans to release the Steam Machine in the first half of 2026, which means we could see it before the end of June.
“Our goal of shipping all three products in the first half of the year has not changed,” reads a Valve statement.
“But we have work to do to land on concrete pricing and launch dates that we can confidently announce, being mindful of how quickly the circumstances around both of those things can change.”
What we do know is that the Steam Machine will seemingly offer a gaming experience that’s on par with the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
It provides 4K gaming at 60 frames-per-second with FSR, something that’s said to be possible thanks to a discrete semi-custom AMD desktop class CPU and GPU.
Valve will offer two different versions, including one with 512GB of storage and another with 2TB. Fortunately, both also come with the ability to expand storage via microSD.
It also come with a stylish LED strip that can be customised with different colours.
